We’ve Already Recommended You to our Friends

We just returned from our trip to Scotland. We had a fabulous time. The arrangements Kerryann made with the three hotels were fantastic. Each was totally different but each perfectly hit the mood of the area we were visiting. It was so helpful to have all the tickets for the various excursions on our iPhone wallet prior to leaving the states. Everything went extremely smoothly visiting all the various sites with no hiccups. Having the breakfast at each hotel was fantastic and the food was great. The Lovat has a Michelin level chef and we lucked out and ended up getting on the waitlist for a reservation which the receptionist worked her magic and got us a dinner reservation. The 2.5 hour dinning experience was one of our highlights of the trip. I do recommend for future clients you inform them of the level of the dining experience (and cost) at The Lovat and the need for a reservation before arriving. We appreciated all your recommendations and willingness to adapt/adjust to our varying ideas/changes to our agenda. We have already recommended you to our friends for future trips.

The Best Irish Vacation of our Lives

We are home… sadly. The trip was phenomenal, to the point where I am ready to sell our house, buy a Bed & Breakfast in Ireland, and move over there for good! I could spend hours detailing the wonderful experience we had, the awesome things we saw, and the friendly people we met. Thank you again for working so hard to set up what we easily consider the best vacation of our lives!

A Pocketful of Wonderful Memories

Julie was an absolute delight to work with. She worked tirelessly to put together the most wonderful Scotland experience within the dates that we had available. The hotels and dining were all first class. The tours and recommendations led to a pocketful of wonderful memories. We had taken many group tours all over western Europe over the years. This time we thought to try something different. While we can only speak for our Scotland experience, I am confident that any travels to Ireland or the United Kingdom in general would be just as amazing with Old Sod.

Irish Memories to Last a Lifetime

When I set out to plan a 10-day trip to Ireland for my family, I quickly realized I would need help. Our group of five ranged in age from 15 to 79 and included my husband, our two children, and my Irish-born mother. In addition to seeing as much of Ireland as possible, the trip needed to include a couple of days with Irish family members. So I turned to Old Sod Travel, and they did not disappoint. Lori and Dee were great to work with! They were knowledgeable and listened to what we wanted to accomplish and provided great recommendations and suggestions for activities that I never would have thought of. In addition, they checked in on us during our trip and were very responsive. From the moment we arrived at our Dublin hotel, where our guide for a walking tour of the city awaited us, until our departure, the trip went without a hitch. Hotels were uniformly comfortable and well located for the attractions we wanted to visit; bookings for all the activities on our schedule were flawless; and the driving times from one location to another were realistically calculated. From Dublin to the Cliffs of Moher, to Galway and the Hawk Walk at Ashford Castle, to family time in Co. Donegal and on to Derry, the Giant’s Causeway, Belfast and a Black Taxi Tour, and Newgrange, we covered a lot of territory in a short time and came home with memories to last a lifetime. Thanks to Lori and Dee at Old Sod Travel!

Seamless, Convenient, and Fun

Old Sod was recommended to us by a friend, and we are so grateful for the referral. Our trip throughout the UK was seamless, convenient, and fun. Tanya and Joanne planned a wonderful itinerary for us, with great hotels and original experiences. All of our drivers and tour guides were seasoned professionals who added to the overall experience, sharing their knowledge and love of their countries. Our favorite hotels were One Aldwych in London, Herbert Park in Dublin, and Virgin Hotel Edinburgh. This was an unforgettable, action-packed vacation! Thank you, Old Sod, for being there for us- start to finish!

Won’t Do Better Than Old Sod

There are so many options when it comes to travel–the destination, where to stay, what to see, where to eat, how to get around. And when you are completely unfamiliar with the country, it’s imperative to have a good travel agent to help you navigate and make the most of your time and money. Old Sod certainly did that for us, from our pick-up at the airport to our departure. We’ve been fortunate enough to travel pretty extensively and have worked with several different agencies, and Old Sod provided everything we needed to feel welcome, safe, and relaxed during our trip.

Deborah Haberlin and Joanne Wallace found us wonderful accommodations in Edinburgh, Isle of Skye, Pitlochry (Ft. Augustus), and also secured dinner reservations for us that were a delightful surprise. We hadn’t expected the level of culinary excellence that we consistently encountered and, while that aspect of our trip was not a primary reason for visiting Scotland, it certainly was a welcome bonus. I also want to praise our driver, Murdo, who was our warm, gracious and thoughtful guide for eight days, seeing us from place to place, keeping us to our (relaxed) schedule, and building in a few unplanned and very enjoyable stops (ie., the monumental Kelpie scultures, the Clava Cairns). We enjoyed getting know him and more about Scotland and its people, and we might have missed that opportunity had we not booked with Old Sod, working as they do with knowledgeable, local people. Murdo was able to answer our questions about Scottish history, point out things of interest as we traveled, and troubleshoot weather, crowds, traffic, iffy excursions (a boat, cold wind and rain, choppy waters, and two underdressed couples in their 60’s–Murdo read us right and we opted for something more comfortable, drinks, relaxing and people-watching), and stops for the “necessities.”

We visited for the beauty of the country and its history, and we surely had every expectation fulfilled. Whoever first said, “Pretty as a postcard,” must have been in Scotland. It is breathtakingly lovely, as you can see from the pictures I’ve included. And you absolutely won’t do better than having Old Sod help you plan your trip. We hope to use them again, if not in Scotland, then in other destinations where Old Sod operates.

Happy travels!

Wonderful Family Trip

Old Sod helped me plan a wonderful family trip to Iceland and Ireland in July. Dee and Tanya planned every detail, including a last minute glitch when one family member became ill and we had to make a quick air reservation change. This was my 3rd trip using Old Sod and I would not think of taking another trip without their assistance.
