Create lasting memories as you travel with your own private driver through Southern Ireland. You'll explore cities and towns such as Dublin, Cork, Killarney, and Adare while discovering hidden gems like Inchydoney Island and the Dingle Peninsula. Below is a sample itinerary of the cities and sites to take-in during your seven days in Ireland. Old Sod Travel can customize this itinerary based on your own travel needs and desires.
Upon arrival in Dublin, grab a cab to city centre and stretch your legs with a walking tour of Dublin along with a meal until you can check into your hotel. Sites to see include Grafton Street, Trinity College, and the Book of Kells. While in Dublin enjoy a literary or musical pub crawl in the evening.
After a good night's rest, enjoy your second day in Dublin touring the historic sites such as the Little Museum of Dublin, the GPO Witness History Museum, and Kilmainham Gaol (jail).
Following lunch, take a tour of the Guinness Storehouse. For dinner head to the Brazen Head pub, Ireland's oldest pub.
You'll meet your driver in the morning and head towards Cork. On your way to Cork, you'll have plenty of opportunity to do some exploring. Be sure to stop for a guided tour of Kilkenny Castle, built in 1195, along with a stop at the Rock of Cashel, which is one of Ireland's most spectacular historic sites.
Upon arrival in Cork you'll be able to check into your hotel. Considerations for the evening include a visit to the Jameson Distillery for a pre-dinner drink followed by a memorable meal at the Hayfield Manor Hotel.
During your second day in Cork, visit Spike Island, recently recognized as Europe's leading tourist attraction. Another local attraction to visit is the charming seaside village of Kinsale.
As you leave Cork on your fifth morning, you'll head to Killarney via the coastal route. Along your way be sure to stop at Inchydoney Island for a walk along the gorgeous beaches. Visit the Bantry House and Gardens for afternoon tea.
Killarney is the ideal place to explore the south west coast. Upon arrival, there will be plenty to see including the National Park, Muckross Hosue and the Gap of Dunloe.
During your second day in Killarney take the time to explore a number of peninsulas: Dingle Peninsula, Iveragh Peninsula (a.k.a Ring of Kerry), or the lesser traveled, Beara Peninsula. There will be no shortage of fabulous restaurants to chose from in Killarney.
As you say goodbye to Killarney you'll say hello to Adare, your final destination in Southwest Ireland. Adare is known to be one of Ireland's prettiest towns. Enjoy your final day and evening in the Adare Manor, including fishing, archery, biking, falconry, horse riding, tennis, clay shooting, and more!
Give your farewell to Ireland and head to Shannon airport, which is about a 30 minute drive from Adare.
